New NY Governor Kathy Hochul Signs Law Requiring Switch To Zero Emission Vehicles

Governor Kathy Hochul has decided to lead her new administration by shaving off what little freedom New Yorker’s have left in relation to the rest of the country.

Hochul has signed a law requiring all vehicles sold in the state to be zero emission by 2035. This law would apply to ATV’s and other off-road vehicles but not “heavy duty vehicles. Heavy vehicles that run on gas are expected to be phased out by 2045.

The Daily Caller reported, Hochul, who succeeded the disgraced former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in late August, said in a statement Wednesday that the new climate initiative will help “reduce the greenhouse gas emissions affecting our climate,” particularly in the transportation sector.

Hochul, in her quest for electric vehicles, seems to have forgotten how equally horrible lithium mines, and refinery’s are for the environment.

While electric vehicles do not burn fossil fuels, they are powered by lithium batteries.

Chile is one of the worlds largest lithium producers, but has run into a massive issue while mining.

NS energy explained In order to begin operations, miners drill holes into salt flats to pump salty, mineral-rich brine to the surface.

The holes are then left for a period of up to 18 months so the liquid can evaporate, before returning to scoop up the lithium carbonate, which can then be turned into metallic lithium.

But this process destroys local ecosystems, and polluted rivers and grasslands with hydrochloric acid.

The same problem has occurred in nearly every place that Lithium is mined. At the Rongda lithium mine in Tibet, toxic chemicals have polluted the Lichu river ravaging fish populations.

Leaders like Kathy Hochul do not take care in their decisions. They do not care the freedom they strip from their constituents, nor the cost of their actions.

They act based on what they believe might be popular with voters.
