In 2016, Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York said “if you boycott Israel, New York State will boycott you.” The Governor went as far to signed an executive order that called for “divestment from companies that boycott the Jewish state”.
Now, Cuomo is silent as Ben & Jerry’s ice cream has stopped selling its product in the West Bank due to Jewish settlements existing there.
This seems quite anti Semitic. Ben & Jerry’s is boycotting the area simply because Jews live there.
Many would have you believe that Israel does not lawfully possess the West Bank, but they do. The region was a territorial gain after the 6 day war instigated by Syria, Jordan and Egypt in 1967.
Cuomo is now being called on to enforce his own executive order regarding companies that boycott Israel.
New York Representative Elise Stefanik (R) said, “I call on him to enforce his order that bans the State of New York from doing business with companies that engage in the anti-Semitic BDS movement.”
Others claim that it is important for Cuomo to reinforce the stance as anti Semitic attacks continue to rise in New York.
