FBI Agent Accused Of Suppressing Hunter Biden Laptop Resigns

An FBI agent has reportedly resigned from his position amid allegations he helped suppress the Hunter Biden laptop story and was accused of bias.

FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Timothy Thibault retired over the weekend after walking out of the building on Friday.

Thibault’s name was already popular for alleged political bias in his handling of the Hunter Biden investigation.

The agent was escorted out of the field office by at least two “headquarters-looking types,” sources told the New York Post.

He had been on leave for a month after Senate Judiciary ranking member Chuck Grassley named him in a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Grassley was raising concerns about whistleblower claims that the FBI had a pattern of political bias from high-ranking officials.

In the letter, Grassley said Thibault and FBI supervisory intelligence analyst Brian Auten were reportedly involved in “a scheme” to “undermine derogatory information connected to Hunter Biden by falsely suggesting it was disinformation.”

“Thibault allegedly ordered the matter closed without providing a valid reason as required by FBI guidelines … [and] subsequently attempted to improperly mark the matter in FBI systems so that it could not be opened in the future,” he added.

“As you are aware, Assistant Special Agent in Charge Tim Thibault is not the only politically biased FBI agent at the Washington Field Office,” Grassley wrote.

During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing this month, FBI Director Christopher Wray said the allegations were “deeply troubling” and promised to protect the whistleblowers.

Last week, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg admitted that the company suppressed the New York Post’s report after the FBI warned Facebook of “Russian propaganda” just before the Hunter Biden laptop story was revealed.

“The FBI basically came to us and some folks on our team and said, ‘Hey, just so you know, you should be on high alert, we thought there was a lot of Russian propaganda in the 2016 election and we have noticed that basically there’s about to be some kind of dump that’s similar to that, so be vigilant,’” Zuckerberg explained.

He also said he can’t recall if the FBI specifically mentioned the Hunter Biden laptop story but said it fit “the pattern.”

After news of Thibault’s retirement, former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to say that the agent had been “hiding and suppressing from the Public and the Media” the “Laptop from Hell” ahead of the 2020 election.

Trump also claimed Thibault “got the FBI to do a raid on a home, Mar-a-Lago, that has ‘stirred’ the world,” but Fox News reported that the agent was not involved in the raid on August 8 “at any level.”

Charlie Kirk, founder of conservative group Turning Point USA, joined the outrage, tweeting “Tim Thibault, the Anti-Trump Activist FBI special agent who opened Trump investigation was reportedly escorted out of Bureau headquarters on Friday.”

“He was a 25-year veteran of the force with reported ties to the Clintons & Obamas. What’s going on in DC?” Kirk added.

“Yet another seemingly crooked FBI agent… I’m sure he will get his job back in no time… or a show on CNN,” said Donald Trump Jr.
