Democrats have been blocking Republican efforts to upload the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop in digital format, according to a new report.
The Daily Caller has confirmed that House Judiciary Committee Democratic staff are refusing to upload Biden’s laptop, citing technological limitations as the reason.
“They’re forcing Republican Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz’s office to print hard copies and PDF-form documents of pages,” said the outlet.
Gaetz’s office reportedly offered to provide the proper equipment to enable the digital file transfer, but Democrats still won’t budge.
When Gaetz attempted to enter the laptop during a March 29 hearing, committee chairman Jerry Nadler objected the request. Nadler then changed his mind and allowed the hard drive to be entered.
A Republican staffer with knowledge of the situation told the Daily Caller that staffers are demanding “Gaetz’s staff provide printed or PDF form documents of pages that could then be uploaded into the record”.
Even though committee staff is responsible for uploading record entries, Gaetz’s office is being forced to expend its own resources to create copies.
Staffers have claimed that the House Judiciary Committee does not have the technology to digitally enter the laptop in its entirety into the record.
The Republican staffer told the Daily Caller “Democrats in the majority used multiple excuses to avoid handling the Hunter Biden laptop in any fashion other than accepting the hard drive via hand delivery”.
“Democrats and majority staff are actively obstructing the American people from being able to see the laptop in the public record. They have all the resources they need to enter Hunter’s laptop into the record — they’re purposefully delaying the process,” they said.
