On Monday the former U.S. Ambassador and former Republican South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley told The Associated Press during a press conference after a tour of South Carolina University she would not consider a nomination to run for president in 2024 if former President Donald Trump declared his candidacy.
When asked if Haley would support Trump if he would run again, she replied, “Yes.”
Haley was then asked a follow-up question on if she would run if Trump declared his candidacy.
She responded, “I would not run if President Trump ran, and I would talk to him about it. That’s something that we’ll have a conversation about at some point if that decision is something that has to be made.”
Haley’s tour of the Historic Black Colleges and Universities is her first appearance in her home state in months.
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former Vice-President Mike Pence are also thought to be seeking the GOP nomination for the 2024 race.
