After Biden started blaming inflation and rising prices on Vladimir Putin, the left-wing media almost immediately started using the Russian President as their scapegoat in defense of Joe Biden.
CNN, MSNBC, and the New York Times have all hopped on the “Putin price hike” bandwagon. But not so long ago, when Americans complained that their nation has become dependent on oil from Russia the administration defended themselves by saying that only 3% of crude oil imports come from Russia.
If only 3% of crude oil is imported from Russia then why would “Putin’s price hike” cause American gasoline to be $5-$7 a gallon? Well, either that 3% has a much larger impact than the administration let on, or the price increase isn’t a result of Russian policy.
Either way, the administration is intentionally misleading its constituents and casting an opaque veil where they promised there would be transparency.
Gas prices initially rose as a result of a rise in demand when lockdowns ended and Americans went back to work. These lockdowns, for the most part, should not have happened in the first place, but can’t be blamed on Biden.
As demand for gasoline remained consistent, the price did not level out. Instead of continued to rise long before the war in Ukraine had ever begun. Putin’s war has only exacerbated the already existing issue.
Biden, since the very moment he started his campaign has actively attempted to wage war on domestic oil production. Members of his administration do not see high gas prices as a negative.
Cabinet members like Pete Buttigieg, rather see high prices as a window to force Americans into buying electric vehicles.
