New Yorkers Will Need To Show Proof Of Vaccination For Public Events

New York takes a predictable and potentially dangerous approach to reopening their venues.

“Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday the rollout of a new pilot program in which New Yorkers would have to flash a sort of COVID-19 passport in order to enter sports arenas, theaters and other businesses as the state continues reopening efforts.

The plan is to test the “Excelsior Pass,” which will use secure technology to confirm if a person has gotten vaccinated or has had a recent negative COVID-19 exam result, during events at Madison Square Garden and Barclays Center, Cuomo said in a statement.”

While it is good that New Yorkers will be able to experience a slice of normalcy, it’s unclear how far programs like this will go.

Will vaccinations be required at venues for 3 months, or 3 years? What types of places will require patrons to be vaccinated? What if some citizens either do not want a vaccine or cannot revive the vaccine because they are pregnant or otherwise medically unable? Why should those people be barred of their rights?

Will there be a point when only vaccinated people will be allowed in public spaces?

Our government is now stepping in and interfering with with the rights of citizens based on whether or not they have been injected with a vaccine. This causes the vaccine to be almost forced by the government.

Cuomo claims that large sports facilities will be allowed to open at 10% capacity as long as all attendees can prove that they have produced a negative covid result. This guideline seems far more reasonable than producing proof of vaccination.
