President Biden called Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy a “stupid son of a bitch” on Monday after a question about inflation.
As the press was being ushered out of an event in the White House East Room, Doocy asked Biden “Do you think inflation is a political liability?”
“No, it’s a great asset — more inflation. What a stupid son of a b**ch,” Biden said into his mic.
The insult was cut from the White House video feed but could be heard on video streamed by C-SPAN.
Doocy told Fox News’ Sean Hannity that Biden reached out to him “within about an hour of that exchange”.
“He said ‘It’s nothing personal, pal,'” Doocy explained. “And we went back and forth, and we were talking about just kind of moving forward, and I made sure to tell him that I’m always gonna try to ask something different than what everybody else is asking”.
“And he said, ‘You got to.’ And that’s a quote from the president, so I’ll keep doing it,” Doocy added.
Hannity asked if Biden apologized, to which Doocy responded, “He cleared the air and I appreciate it”.
“That’s not an answer,” Hannity laughed. “That doesn’t sound like an apology”. “I don’t need anybody to apologize to me. He can call me whatever he wants as long as it gets him talking!” Doocy said.
“I think that’s enough. That’s enough. So we can move on. We can now move forward. There will be years- three to seven years of opportunities to ask him about different stuff,” he added.
Biden has recently lashed out at multiple reporters for asking questions, including Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich.
