What Will Republicans Change If They Win Back The House?

With mid-term elections quickly approaching, many have begun wondering what the priorities of a Republican-run House of Representatives may look like.

House minority leader Kevin McCarthy Tweeted Friday that Republicans would focus on the following issues: “1 – Hold the Biden Administration accountable 2 – Secure the Border 3 – Make our cities safe again 4 – Rein in the out-of-control inflation 5 – Stop the overreach of government mandates.”

A source familiar with McCarthy’s thinking told Fox News that the GOP agenda is much larger than the points outlined in the press conference and includes tackling issues like supply chain issues, Biden’s chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, the porous southern border, questions about the origin of COVID, and a variety of other issues.

McCarthy has also mentioned addressing members of Congress trading stock and potentially banning the practice if his party were to win the majority.

A person of Congress holding a stock can effectively serve as a conflict of interest; causing the individual to vote for the betterment of their stock portfolio rather than their constituents.

McCarthy notes that nothing yet is finalized but confirmed to the Daily Caller that he is in fact considering limiting trading ability or barring it altogether.

Nancy Pelosi has on the contrary defended the idea of congressmen and women trading. She claims that they should be able to “participate in the free market economy”.
