A video of a teacher singing a song about masks to masked preschoolers has gone viral after @libsoftiktok posted it on Twitter.
The video was posted Sunday and has over 350,000 views now. “Preschool teacher films herself singing cringey mask song to masked toodlers,” the tweet said.
It’s uncertain when or where this video was filmed, but people on Twitter expressed their frustration over children being filmed without parental consent.
A few of the children sang along as the teacher said “I wear a mask to school, I wear a mask to school, hi-ho, the derry-o, I wear a mask to school”.
The rest of the song goes “It helps to keep me safe, it helps to keep, hi-ho, the derry-o, it helps to keep me safe. It keeps my friends safe. It keeps my friends safe, hi-ho, the derry-o, it keeps my friends safe”.
School districts across the country have been fighting mask mandates for months. Many states have prohibited local governments from imposing mask requirements.
The CDC is recommending that masks be mandatory for students age 2 and older, and staff, teachers and visitors in K-12 schools, regardless of their vaccine status.
