Many Republicans still debate who would make the best President in 2024. Many remain loyal to Donald Trump while others support Ron DeSantis.
Like at CPAC, at TPUSA’s 2022 Student Action Summit (SAS) convention Trump dominated the GOP nomination straw poll. Now, this nomination means nothing officially but might reflect how Republican voters feel.
Currently, considered the top candidates are Trump and Florida’s current Governor Ron DeSantis who has gained massive popularity in recent years.
Now, the SAS convention largely revolves around youth activists and may not account for older voters though CPAC likely would. At SAS 78.7% of attendees said they’d vote for Trump while DeSantis secured 19% of the votes.
Other Republicans like Kristi Noem, Mike Pompeo, Ted Cruz, Nikki Haley, and Mike Pence ranged in vote percentages from 1%-0.3% with Noem at 1% and Pence at 0.3%.
The former President has been dropping hints left and right regarding a possible 2024 presidential race. Joe Biden said that if he had to run against Trump again he would be “fortunate” seeming to imply that it’d be an easy win.
“now we may just have to do it again.” Trump teased while speaking at the summit.
