Minnesota School District Charges Concerned Parents Group $900,000 For Curriculum Records

In Minnesota, a public school system is using extortion to cover up records regarding the formation of their curriculum.

A public school district in Minnesota told a law firm representing concerned parents that it could cost upwards of $901,121.15 to complete a government records request, according to communications obtained by the Daily Caller

A request filed by an attorney at Mohrman, Kaardal & Erickson made on behalf of a concerned parents group called “Equality in Education,” was intended to uncover information regarding the curriculums development, conferences and teacher seminars.

The request only sought records dating back to January of 2020. The group was specifically concerned with words like “equity, social justice, cultural competency, race, intersectionality, or CRT.”

An attorney that represented the district told the organization that the price tag would be a whopping $901,121.15, and that the information would not be handed over until the amount was paid.

The districts legal representative said that the request would not even be processed until after a “prepayment” was made. “The district will require prepayment before processing your request further,” he said.

He continued by explaining, “If the actual cost ends up being less than the estimated cost, the District will refund the difference. If the actual cost ends up being more than the estimated cost, your firm will be responsible for the difference.”

It would appear that school district is hiding behind the price tag and using to leave the requested information buried.
