A Minneapolis mother of two could be seen on video confronting Black Lives Matter protesters gathered outside the home of a man who was shot and killed by police last week.
Arabella Foss-Yarbrough, had called police Wednesday night after her neighbor, Andrew “Tekle” Sundberg, fired shots into her apartment while she was cooking for her young children.
Foss-Yarbrough said the bullets ripped through her apartment, and nearly left her family dead or injured, Fox News reported.
After protesters gathered Saturday outside the apartment building to demand justice for Sundberg, the mother pulled up in her car and confronted them.
“This is not a George Floyd situation. George Floyd was unarmed. This is not okay,” Foss-Yarbrough said. “He tried to kill me in front of my kids”.
Sundberg’s family said he was having a “mental health crisis” at the time of his death and a pistol with an extended magazine and multiple bullet casings was found in his apartment, according to the New York Post.
After Foss-Yarbrough called police during the shooting, they helped the family escape. As police responded to evacuate the building, “officers started taking fire,” according to a search warrant.
There was a six-hour standoff between police and Sundberg, which came to an end when two Minneapolis snipers shot the 20-year-old.
“My kids have to deal with this and probably have a mental illness now because they almost lost their lives,” she said to the protesters.
“There’s bullet holes in my kitchen because he sat in the f***ing hallway watching me move,” she continued.
“We’re here to respect life, demand justice, and we’re demanding the release of the bodycam footage,” said BLM lead organizer Trahern Crews.
“I have black children; I am a woman of color!” Foss-Yarbrough, who is of black, white and Native descent, yelled. “If I would have lost my life, would you guys do this for me?”
“Yes, ma’am,” Crews responded. Sundberg’s parents were also outside the building.
“I wish I could wrap my arms around her and tell her I’m so sorry,” Cindy Sundberg said. “I’m so sorry she had to experience that, I’m so sorry for her pain”. “I am so sorry,” Mark Sundberg told the mother, according to the Star Tribune.
