Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren called for pregnancy centers to be shut down Tuesday.
While speaking with reporters about abortion, Warren turned the conversation to pregnancy centers and said they need to be shut down.
“In Massachusetts right now, those crisis pregnancy centers that are there to fool people who are looking for pregnancy termination help outnumber true abortion clinics by 3 to 1,” she said to NBC 10 Boston.
“We need to shut them down here in Massachusetts, and we need to shut them down all around the country. You should not be able to torture a pregnant person like that,” the senator added.
Warren’s comments follow multiple attacks on pregnancy centers by pro-abortion activists since the Supreme Court draft majority opinion leaked in May.
According to the Charlotte Lozier Institute, many of those centers offer free or low-cost pregnancy testing, education on adoption services, ultrasounds, STD testing and treatment, prenatal and parenting lessons, after abortion recovery counseling and sexual risk avoidance education.
Warren was immediately met with criticism online. Koch Institute senior fellow Casey Mattox tweeted “Not gonna sugar coat this. It’s evil. If I knew nothing about Elizabeth Warren but the lies she tells about pregnancy centers I’d know enough”.
Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon said “Now THIS is harmful disinformation”.
Daily Wire correspondent Mary Margaret Olohan shared photos of baby clothes and shoes available for parents from a center, saying “TRIGGER WARNING: these pictures depict the inside of one of the ‘predatory’ crisis pregnancy centers that exist to trick pregnant women into not aborting their unborn baby”.
