Dallas Professor Claimed That John Madden “Dehumanized Black Athletes” On Death Day

A Texas professor has claimed that the “Madden” NFL video game franchise is racist. Andrew McGregor from Dallas College in Texas says that John Madden “dehumanized black athletes” on the day of his death.

Fox News reported, (McGregor) further claimed that Madden “profited off of Black athletic labor and glamorized the violence inherent in the game.”

American Football is not a black-only sport, and the athletes who compete choose to do so and train hard for their positions. The minimum salary in 2021 was $660,000.

Aside from their normal salary, players are paid thousands of dollars for appearing in Madden video games. Players can bump that check-up even higher if they are given the honor of cover athlete.

“The creation of the Madden video game was not a great development for the U.S. It further glamorized violence and dehumanized black athletes, helping to establish plantation cosplay that has grown worse in the era of fantasy football.” McGregor said.

So, is the professor’s vendetta against the late John Madden, or football as a whole? The NFL was 68.7% Black and 28.6% non-Hispanic White as of 2014 – but all athletes are treated exactly the same. This happens to be an area of spectacular success for Black Americans but is now being labeled racist.

The NFL is not a “plantation”. Professional athletics is an occupation that many people of all races strive to work in. The athletes have free will and choose to be a part of the league, for their work they are more than fairly compensated.
