Biden Admin Resumes Migrant Flights To NY

The Biden administration has recently resumed sending charter flights of migrants to an airport north of New York City.

First highlighted in October by the New York Post, the flights were reported to have resumed as illegal immigrants continue to cross the border.

Members of the Post’s staff “watched as a group of migrant teens got off an Avelo Airlines plane that arrived at the Westchester County Airport near White Plains at 9:25 p.m. Thursday”.

“The group then boarded three waiting buses that drove off about 50 minutes later,” it said.

The post added that one bus traveled to Walt Whitman Service Area in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, arriving around 12:45 a.m. Friday.

Based on flight records, “the plane that landed in Westchester flew out of El Paso International Airport in Texas and made a stopover in Jacksonville, Fla.,” reported the Post.

Former Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino said “The resumption of flights is a big middle finger to hard-working New York taxpayers,” according to the outlet. “It’s frustrating. It’s outrageous”.

Astorino believes the flights started up again last month. “We’ve got high taxes, failing schools, with crime out of control and we’re using taxpayer dollars to aid illegal immigrants,” he said.

When the Post was referred to the US Department of Health and Human Services, it stated “It is our legal responsibility to provide safe, appropriate care to unaccompanied migrant children during the time they are in our custody, and that includes transportation to vetted sponsors while they await immigration proceedings”.

Although the White House did not answer why the flights to New York had been suspended and resumed, it said they were being used to “transport unaccompanied minors to vetted sponsors or relatives with whom they will await the outcome of their immigration proceedings”.
