Russia Imposes Sanctions On Biden, Blinken

Russia has imposed sanctions on President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and several other administration officials in response to U.S. measures.

In response to a series of unprecedented sanctions prohibiting, among other things, entry into the United States for senior officials of the Russian Federation…From March 15, President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Secretary of Defense L. Austin and 10 others are included in the Russian ‘stop list’ and are to be sanctioned in retaliation and are barred from entering Russia.

“The measures would block entry to Russia and freeze any assets held there,” reported Bloomberg News.

Despite the individual sanctions, high-level contacts with those on the list will not be prevented.

“We do not refuse to maintain formal relations if they meet our national interests, and if necessary, we will solve problems arising from the status of persons who appear on the black list in order to organise high-level contacts,” the Foreign Ministry said.

Sanctioned along with Biden and Blinken are Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Joint Chiefs Chairman Mark Milley, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, press secretary Jen Psaki, and CIA Director William Burns.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, were also on the list of sanctioned individuals.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February, multiple countries have announced sanctions against Russia, primarily against banking and high-tech products.
