Republican Reps Turn On Gosar And Vote To Censure Over Meme

Wednesday, the Democrat led House of Representatives censured rep. Paul Gosar (R-Arizona) and stripped him of his house assignments.

This is the first time that a representative has been censured in 10 years. The action came about as a result of an online video meme posted by the legislator.

The video was an edit of a scene from attack on Titan (a cartoon) where AOC and Joe Biden appear as villains and Gosar as the hero. The video depicts him diving into battle against his political foes.

The video was quite obviously a joke, a meme intended to make people laugh. That didn’t stop the Democrat party from turning it into a serious matter deserving of punishment.

CNN reported, The final vote was 223 to 207. Republicans Adam Kinzinger of Illinois and Liz Cheney of Wyoming voted with all the Democrats for the censure resolution. Republican Rep. David Joyce of Ohio voted present, meaning he took no position either way.

After facing criticism, the Representative deleted the meme, but refused to apologize for the silly joke.

Democrats argued that the meme sets a “dangerous precedent” for the future demanding that significant consequences be brought forth before the memery gets out of hand.

Gosar will also be removed from the House Oversight and Reform Committee, of which AOC is also a member.

“Disguising death threats as a video doesn’t make it less real, It’s a sad day for the House of Representatives, but a necessary day,” Speaker Pelosi said horrified by the dastardly meme.
