Pelosi Pushes For Use Of Tax Dollars To Fund Abortions

As Democrats continue their attempt to remove the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits the government from using federal funds to support abortions, Pelosi cites her own Catholic faith in defense.

As a devout Catholic and mother of five in six years, I feel that God blessed my husband and me with our beautiful family – five children in six years almost to the day. But that may not be what we should – and it’s not up to me to dictate that that’s what other people should do, and it’s an issue of fairness and justice for poorer women in our country.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi

Pelosi supports the idea that this is a matter of American women’s health and says she cannot tell others what they can and cannot do. She also said it’s “an issue of fairness and justice for poorer women in our country”.

President Joe Biden has been a supporter of this amendment, stating that it is not fair to force religious citizens to pay for procedures with which they disagree. He, however, switched his support during his campaign.

Considering the Catholic Church mainly opposes abortion, Biden faced criticism from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops for his decision. They have created a petition to keep the policy in place, receiving over 130,000 signatures so far.

Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco has previously stated that Pelosi does not speak for the Catholic Church and argues “No Catholic in good conscience can favor abortion’.
