Man Who Threatened Rep. Matt Gaetz Faces Federal Charges

The man accused of sending death threats over the phone to Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., in January was arrested last week and now faces federal indictment.

Eugene Huelsman had called Gaetz’s office phone on Jan. 9, three days after the Capitol riot. The message he left said ‘Tell [M.G.] to watch his back, tell him to watch his children”.

“I’m coming for him, he’s gonna f–king die… I’m gonna f–king kill him… Watch your back, I’m coming for you. I’m gonna put a bullet in you and I’m gonna put a bullet in one of your f–king kids too. I hate you,” Huelsman said.

Gaetz has confirmed that he is the one referred to as M.G. in the indictment. He told Fox News Digital that he had given the recorded voicemail to Capitol police after the incident.

The indictment was brought against Huelsman in May for one felony count of making a threat to injure the person of another, but it was unclear where he was at the time.

Court records say the indictment was sealed by a judge until authorities found Huelsman in California and arrested him. He will make his first appearance in Pensacola federal court on Friday.

Gaetz stated, “I’m glad that prosecutors in the Northern District of Florida take death threats against me and my family seriously”. “I wish that were an ethic across the DOJ enterprise”.

Huelsman was a camera operator in TV and film, working with “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”, ABC, and CNN.
