Good Guy with Gun? Church Shooter STOPPED by Hero

Good guy with a gun? What about a good guy with a chair? An Alabama man was charged with shooting and killing three people, his mug shot however shows the mark of a hero. Beaten, Robert Findlay Smith appears in his photo with a black eye from a hero bystander who took him down with a chair.

The 70-year-old Smith was charged with capital murder after killing 3 innocent worshippers at St. Stephens Episcopal Church.

Struck were you elderly churchgoers, one 84 years old, and another 75 years old. A heroic senior in his 70s intervened taking the shooter down with a folding chair.

“He hit him with a folding chair, wrestling him to the ground, took the gun from him and hit him in the head with his own gun,”  said witness Reverend Doug Carpenter.

The left often attempts to push the narrative that the “good guy with a gun” scenario never plays out because bystanders are not heroic enough to lay their lives down for others.

In this case, however, an elderly frail man took down an active shooter with nothing more than a folding chair. Brave hearts exist, and heroes stop shootings, their job just becomes much easier if they are also armed with a real weapon.

Becoming a hero and being armed benefits not only everyone in the line of fire but also the armed bystander. The armed bystander has just as much a chance to be shot as everyone else, however, has far greater odds to prevent himself or herself from being shot by taking down the threat.
