Desantis To Create Law Enforcement Office To Crack Down On Election Fraud

Governor Ron DeSantis has decided to crack down on voter fraud in an untraditional way.

Politico reported, Gov. Ron DeSantis vowed on Wednesday to create a fully-staffed statewide law-enforcement office whose sole job would be to crack down on election crimes despite previously praising Florida’s smooth 2020 elections and rebuffing calls by members of his own party for an audit,

The Governor’s proposal would create the  “Office of Election Crimes and Security” specifically designated and trained to investigate election fraud.

DeSantis indicated that in his opinion, prosecutors and local election offices are not properly equipped or trained to tackle the problem.

DeSantis believes that if even one person is caught and arrested it will deter most others from attempting to break laws regarding election fraud.

“I guarantee you this: The first person that gets caught, no one is going to want to do it again after that,” he said.

“More attacks on voting coming to Florida. Just like in 2020 we had elections last night in our state w/no issues. Why does our Governor keep creating partisan chaos. Why can’t we just focus on problems like housing, hunger, taxes, our environment & public transportation?” Rep Anna Eskamani said.

However, ensuring the security of elections is an integral part of making sure that all other issues may be solved by the will of the people.
