Where is coronavirus worst in America right now? Well, where is there a high volume of unvaccinated persons packed tightly together, and constantly moving about?
You guessed it. Overcrowded migrant facilities on the United States-Mexico border.
The Daily Caller wrote, A major surge in coronavirus infections is being recorded at crowded U.S. immigration detention centers, according to The New York Times.
As apprehensions at the border spiked in recent months, the number of migrants being held in detention centers has almost doubled, with more than 26,000 migrants being detained in facilities last week, compared to about 14,000 in April, according to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE). As a result, more than 7,500 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the centers between April and last week, and account for more than 40% of all reported cases in ICE facilities since the beginning of the pandemic, according to The New York Times.
“You have people coming in and out of the facility, into communities where incomplete vaccination allows these variants to flourish, and then you bring them inside the facilities, and that variant will spread,” she said. “What you’re describing is the combination of insufficient vaccination plus the evolution of the virus, and that is really scary.” Said Dr. Sharon Dolovich from the University of California.
While Kamala makes trips abroad attempting to discover the “root causes” rather than take actions to prevent the illegal migration from occurring this migrants are dying on our soil.
Perhaps lives would be saved, if only were it for a federal government that helped its states when they were in need rather than forcing those, already scarce on resources to lend to others. Perhaps lives could be saved if the Biden administration had not worked so hard to reverse Trump era immigration policy.
