Chicago Mayor Refuses To Be Interviewed By White Journalists On Anniversary

The United States has come a long way from the days of segregation and prioritizing certain peoples based on their skin color or ethnicity. But modern radicals have decided to revive the practice.

NBC’s 5 Chicago reported: “As Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot approaches the two-year anniversary of her inauguration, reaching the halfway point through her first term, she told the city’s media outlets that she would grant one-on-one interviews to mark the occasion, but with one condition: she will only speak with journalists of color.”

“It’s a shame that in 2021, the City Hall press corps is overwhelmingly White in a city where more than half of the city identifies as Black, Latino, AAPI or Native American.” The Mayor said.

But what lightfoot fails to grapple in her feeble mind, is that occupational demographics often do not proportionally match population demographics. This is for one simple reason: different people, are interested in, and skilled at different jobs. It has nothing to do with their race, ethnicity or gender. This “issue” does not occur because Chicago’s City Hall is racist.

But Lightfoot refers to the fact that many in the City Hall Press Corps are white, as a shame. Attempting to cast guilt and burden on those who are white, and preform that job.

“I am a Latino reporter @chicagotribune whose interview request was granted for today. However, I asked the mayor’s office to lift its condition on others and when they said no, we respectfully canceled. Politicians don’t get to choose who covers them.” Gregory Pratt, a Chicago Tribute Journalist wrote.

The press in this country are free. It’s obvious that a politician cannot dedicate all of his/her time to reporters, but those reporters certainly should not be stripped of opportunity because of their skin color. This act is abominable.
