Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich filed a request for a temporary restraining order Friday to stop the Biden Administration’s vaccine mandate as the ongoing lawsuit moves forward.
Brnovich stated, “Once a vaccine has been administered, it can never be undone”. “The COVID-19 vaccine mandate is one of the greatest infringements upon individual liberty, federalism, and the separation of powers by any administration in our country’s history,” he said.
Last month, after the announcement that federal workers and private sector workers in businesses with more than 100 employees must be vaccinated or get tested weekly, Arizona decided to sue the administration.
The lawsuit brought up the lack of mandates and security for illegal immigrants crossing the border into the U.S. It also argued that the vaccine mandate violates the Equal Protection Clause because illegal immigrants are being favored over American citizens.
In the past few months, over 160,000 migrants have been released into the country, and no vaccine or testing requirements have been put in place for them.
Brnovich’s office filed a temporary restraining order Friday to stop the mandate. This was due to the vaccination deadlines, which will probably pass before the filing for a preliminary injunction is able to be fully heard.
The complaint stated, “The deadline for federal contractors to receive their first vaccine is approaching as early as Oct. 27, 2021, so time is of the essence”.
Another complaint was filed alongside the restraining order request that argued the mandates will cause “substantial harm to Arizona’s economy and to Arizona businesses that will either have to fire valuable employees or give up lucrative government contracts”.
Biden has repeatedly dismissed any concerns about the vaccine mandate and claimed that those who oppose it are trying to make it “a political issue”.
