DeSantis Dispels Misinformation About ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Bill

Governor Ron DeSantis was given the perfect opportunity to dismiss false claims about Florida’s new “Don’t Say Gay” bill, during a press conference in Plant City.

The bill would effectively ban the topic of sexuality and gender in the classroom for students in grade k-3. The bill was widely condemned by Democrats and liberals, as well as LGBTQ groups, many of whom had not actually read the bill and had an improper impression of what it actually is.

Really, it doesn’t seem as though there’s any legitimate reality where personal sexuality and gender identity should be a topic of discussion between a teacher and student. Teachers are not confidants and friends, they are instructors, and mandated reporters.

“I’m asking you to tell me what’s in the bill because you are pushing false narratives,” the Florida governor said to a reporter who referred to the bill as it’s dubbed name, the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

The reporter went on to explain that the bill bans the instruction of gender identity and sexual orientation in the classroom. DeSantis interjected saying that it only applied to students who were “pre-K through three, so 5-year-olds, 6-year-olds, 7-year-olds.”

Many times students this age are unable to even grasp the idea of gender identity or sexuality, rather they’re still trying to figure out who has cooties and who doesn’t.

“And the idea that you wouldn’t be honest about that and tell people what it actually says, it’s why people don’t trust people like you, because you peddle false narratives, and so we disabuse you of those narratives – We’re going to make sure that parents can send their kid to Kindergarten without having some of this stuff injected into the school curriculum,” DeSantis said before roaring applause.
