The tolerant left has once again violently attacked someone who politically disagrees. New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin was nearly killed at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post-event.
The attacker reportedly “wrestled with him a bit, and pulled a blade out,” a witness recounted. After the apparent attempt on his life, Zeldin went back to his speech a continued on with the event.
“Congressman Zeldin, Alison Esposito, and all members of Team Zeldin are safe following tonight’s attack. Far more must be done to make New York safe again. This is very much getting out of hand in this state. Unfortunately, Congressman Zeldin is just the latest New Yorker whose life has been affected by the out-of-control crime and violence in New York. This needs to stop! Thankfully, we still have exceptional men and women in law enforcement answering the call to protect our streets,” said Katie Vincentz a spokesperson for the Zeldin campaign.
According to the campaign, the attacker attempted to stab the candidate but was stopped by a number if heroic attendees.
When asked, current state governor and opponent of Zeldin, Kathy Hochul condemned the violent crime “in the strongest terms possible.”
“Most people thought the guy was trying to go fix like the speaker or the flag, but then someone screamed ‘stop him, he’s not with them,’ and then that whole like wrestling match happened,” One witness recounted.
Zeldin is lucky to have such observant supporters. Otherwise, his life may have been taken on stage.
