Governor Ron DeSantis has created a new one-of-a-kind police force dedicated to investigating election fraud and other election crimes. The task force was approved Monday and will operate in Florida, America’s third-largest state.

Politico reported, The Republican governor had proposed the creation of a special unit to tackle election crimes as he came under pressure from some Republicans to do a full-blown audit of the 2020 election even though former President Donald Trump had little trouble winning Florida.

“I don’t think there’s any other place in the country that you should have more confidence that your vote counts than in the state of Florida,” the sunshine state governor said.

Regardless of election fraud claims from the previous presidential elections, a task force dedicated to keeping an eye on the democratic process is exactly what America needs.

American elections are unlikely to be rigged however they are so disorganized that it would be difficult to prove that anyone won any particular presidential election in any particular year after the initial count. Underpaid poll workers often misfile and do a poor job of organizing ballots.

Not to mention the fact that at the very least stand-alone actors absolutely cast fraudulent ballots in the United States. This can happen in a number of ways, the most common; being double casting and the casting of ballots by illegitimate voters. It’s just unclear how often this actually happens, though it’s unlikely to be prevalent enough to sway results -at least on the presidential level.

With most blue states not even requiring photo identification to cast a ballot, theoretically anyone, citizen or non-citizen can participate in local and national elections.

It’s also worth noting that election fraud claims are nothing new – and usually the contesting party is not a Republican. As recently as 2016 Hillary Clinton contested her election against Donald Trump claiming that the whole thing was rigged and riddled with “Russian collusion”.

In 2000 Al Gore, a Democrat contested his race against President George W. Bush. Gore demanded that Florida’s ballots be recounted.

In short, a police force dedicated to election integrity helps everyone – not just Republicans.
