Republicans Lead New Jersey and Win Virginia

Republican Glenn Youngkin has won Virginia’s Gubernatorial race. Jack Ciattarelli is also preforming favorably against the current Governor of New Jersey, Phil Murphy.

Fox News reported, Ciattarelli was up by about 1,000 votes with 88% reporting at about 3:30 a.m. ET.

Ciattarelli, a former accountant and businessman, has been involved in New Jersey state politics for decades and served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2011 to 2018. He ran for New Jersey governor in 2017 and came in second place in the primary.

In contrast, USA Today reported that “Murphy had a lead of less than a percentage point”  at 3:13 pm. The leads change so quickly that a clear prediction cannot be made.

As of this time, the Associated Press has not yet called the race and the race remains extremely close.

Both candidates mounted tense campaigns and are expected to see a very very close finish as counting continues.

The Wall Street Journal indicated that the reason the count is taking so long is because several counties are still processing Mail in ballots that were received late .

Governor Phil Murphy said “We’re going to wait for every vote to be counted, and that’s how our democracy works.”
