Fox News Personality Jeanine Pirro criticized President Joe Biden’s approach to handling the Canadian wildfire pollution that is affecting the United States’ northeast. Pirro condemned Biden’s approach of sending additional firefighters and aid to Canada via the National Interagency Fire Center, which is assisting our neighboring country so effectively.
Biden mentioned during his press conference on Thursday that 600 American firefighters are already helping with the situation, but Pirro mocked him on The Five, and made it seem like Canada was at fault for the pollution.
Pirro insinuated that they were purposely creating an environmental disaster. “As President of the United States, you need to take appropriate action and assert yourself,” she said. In essence, she believed Biden should punish Canada for its actions and not try to help them.
Pirro highlighted that “another president” would have taken a stronger stance, handled the situation more severely, and addressed the grievous harm Canada was causing to the American people. She stated that the fires were causing serious health difficulties for the citizens of our country.
Pirro was aggravated with how Biden joined the “wrongdoing” rather than stopping it. She believed that the administration created an ideological issue around the problem and only offered to spend more money, which was coming out of our pockets.
Pirro jabbed at Biden the day after calling wearing masks because of pollution “insanity,” while local and national health authorities were recommending masks to the residents.
As for the pollution itself, a state of emergency was declared in New York City due to the poor air quality that resulted from the Canadian wildfires.
New York City was pronounced as having the poorest air quality in the world on Wednesday, according to the IQAir World Air Quality Index. The atmospheric conditions have caused closed schools, hundreds of cancelled flights, and major league baseball matches in New York and Philadelphia to be postponed.
Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Center’s data reveals that there are 427 active fires as of Thursday night, with more than half of them being out of control.
While addressing the situation, President Biden also explained how the Canadian wildfires are caused by climate change and how it is affecting the United States. However, Pirro did not seem to agree with the assessment and shifted the narrative towards blaming Canada.
