On Wednesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced her rejection of two of the five GOP representatives chosen for the committee investigating the January 6 events at the Capitol.
With respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan.

Appointed by GOP leader Kevin McCarthy, both Jim Jordan of Ohio and Jim Banks of Indiana were rejected by Pelosi, while representatives Troy Nehls, Kelly Armstrong, and Rodney Davis were accepted.
Many believe Pelosi’s rejection comes from Jordan and Banks’ strong support for former president Donald Trump.
Banks stated, “Make no mistake, Nancy Pelosi created this committee solely to malign conservatives and to justify the Left’s authoritarian agenda”.
In response, McCarthy stated that Pelosi’s decision is an “egregious abuse of power and will irreparably damage this institution” and threatened to pull all five representatives from the committee if she refuses to reverse her choice.
Unless Speaker Pelosi reverses course and seats all five Republican nominees, Republicans will not be party to their sham process and will instead pursue our own investigation of the facts.

The Committee is supposed to meet on Tuesday, where they will hear testimonies from law enforcement and others who were present during the January 6 riots. U.S Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn and Sergeant Aquilino Gonnell are expected to be there as well.
