Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene introduced legislation on Friday that would make providing “gender affirming care” to minors a felony.

The “Protect Children’s Innocence Act” would make any hormonal or sex reassignment procedures a Class C felony, which is punishable by up to 25 years in prison.

The bill outlaws more than a dozen medical interventions and procedures used to treat gender dysphoria in transgender youth.

These procedures are done “for the purpose of changing the body of such individual to correspond to a sex that differs from their biological sex.”

Some surgeries included in the bill are castration, vasectomy, vaginoplasty and ovariectomy.

The bill also bans hormone treatments, any form of plastic surgery to change the face, placement of fat in the gluteal region, and chest implants.

Federal funds are prohibited from being used for gender-affirming health care under the proposed legislation.

It also prohibits healthcare facilities on federal lands or tribal territories from performing the procedures and outlaws instruction on the treatments in higher education institutions, reported the Daily Caller.

The legislation does not apply to individuals diagnosed with an ovarian or testicular issue or an abnormal sex chromosome structure.

There are also exceptions for those suffering from a physical disorder or injury, or potentially fatal situations.

The bill was co-sponsored by 12 lawmakers, including Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, Utah Rep. Burgess Owens, and Louisiana Rep. Clay Higgins.

A similar measure was introduced in Alabama, but a federal judge temporarily blocked the ban in May.

While appearing on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Greene called gender-affirming care “child abuse.”

“And this practice should never happen, it’s so disgusting and appalling… gender-affirming care is… genital mutilation,” she added.
