In recent months, Joe Manchin has stood out as a Democrat that is somewhat sensible. However, his occasional sensibility apparently doesn’t free him from defending the Democrat’s dystopian tactics.
Manchin recently defended the “inflation reduction act” which according to experts fails to do one thing: reduce inflation.
“Is it misleading to call this the Inflation Reduction Act for Americans when it’s not going to make their grocery bill cheaper, it’s not going to make everyday goods cheaper for them at least immediately?” Asked Hillary Vaughn with Fox News.
The West Virginia rep responded by saying, “Why would it? Well, immediately it’s not. But we never said anything happens immediately like today, turn the switch on and off.”
Experts project that the bill won’t mitigate inflation at all. The Congressional Budget Office says the effects will be “negligible”.
Penn Wharton Budget Model, a group of economists and data scientists at the University of Pennsylvania is one group that argues that the effect will be null. The group says that the impact it will have on inflation “is statistically indistinguishable from zero.”
In reality, it’s a climate change bill in disguise. The legislation designates $400 billion to climate change proposals and another $80 billion to help the IRS hire new agents.
The bill does virtually nothing to actually decrease the burden of inflation on the American people.
