Shortly after the bombing in Afghanistan where multiple U.S. service members were killed, Vice News shared a tweet suggesting many Marines are Neo-Nazis.
The news outlet posted an article Thursday titled “Why Are So Many Marines Neo-Nazis?” and then shared it on Twitter.
In the article, the writer claims there is “anecdotal evidence” to suggest that U.S. Marine Corps members often hold extremist beliefs and belong to far-right groups.
The article and tweet were both posted around the same time it was announced that 11 Marines were killed and others were injured in the explosions. The number of Marines dead has since increased to 13.
Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw took to Twitter to criticize Vice News for posting the story during the attack.
Vice News has deleted the tweet but the article is still up on their site.
Crenshaw was not the only one to blast Vice for their tweet.
Despite growing concern after the attacks, evacuation efforts will continue and Biden and his administration are still keeping the August 31 deadline to withdraw all troops from Afghanistan.
