If the Ukrainian Defense Ministry can be trusted, it would appear that the Russian military is having an incredibly difficult time taking over Ukraine.
The Defense Ministry reported that thus far 2,800 Russian servicemen have been killed, 80 tanks have been destroyed, along with 516 armored vehicles, and 10 aircraft. These losses are significant considering the power of the Russian military.
CNN also claimed that by 6:10 EST on February 26th, the Russian Ministry of Defense had reported no casualties on their side during the invasion. Both reports appear to be inflated… or deflated.
Russians have reportedly brought with them, mobile crematoriums to dispose of deceased soldiers. Presumably, this method of disposal would help the Russian government conceal the true number of casualties. These crematoriums apparently have the power to “evaporate” bodies.
In addition, Ukraine has launched a website for the families of Russian soldiers who have been taken as prisoners of war or have been killed in action. This helps Russian families but also appears to be an attempt by the Ukrainian government to further turn the Russian population against its government.
Aside from military casualties, thus far at least 240 civilians have been killed during the invasion. In addition to the dead, more than 160,000 Ukrainians have fled the country and are now displaced according to the U.N.
The U.N. Report also made sure to note, that actual figures are likely considerably higher than reported.
