Police arrested Nima Momeni, a self-proclaimed tech consultant, on Thursday in connection with the stabbing death of Cash App founder Bob Lee in San Francisco last week. The 38-year-old was taken into custody in Emeryville, a suburb of San Francisco, on suspicion of murder.

San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that Momeni would be charged with murder in Lee’s death and is expected to be arraigned Friday, with prosecutors seeking to hold him without bail. Authorities believe that the Momemi and Lee knew each other.

Lee was found with stab wounds in San Francisco’s Rincon Hill neighborhood on April 4 and later died at a hospital. Investigators served search warrants in both San Francisco and Emeryville, but it remains unclear whether a weapon has been found.

Bob Lee was known for creating the popular mobile payment service Cash App while serving as Chief Technology Officer at Square, now called Block. At the time of his death, Lee held the position of Chief Product Officer at cryptocurrency firm MobileCoin.

Momeni’s LinkedIn profile identifies him as an “IT Consultant/Entrepreneur” and the owner of a company called Expand IT. It is not yet clear if Momeni has an attorney to represent him.

San Francisco Supervisor Matt Dorsey expressed hope that the arrest would bring healing and closure to those affected by the tragedy. However, prominent tech leaders, including Elon Musk, took to social media to criticize San Francisco’s perceived lenient stance on crime in the wake of Lee’s death. In response, both Scott and Jenkins argued that the issue is not specific to San Francisco but rather a matter of human nature.
