‘Professional Shoplifter’ In NY Finally Jailed After 100+ Arrests

One might think that 100 arrests would be enough to land someone a spot in prison, in New York, this thought would be incorrect.

A professional shoplifter has finally landed herself behind bars after being arrested more than 100 times. The most recent arrest was for fighting police officers in Harlem.

Michelle McKelley, 41, describes herself as a “professional booster”. Each time she’s been arrested, she was released without bail only to go and “boost” again.

Apparently, after stealing some paper towels from Duane Reade at West 125th Street and Lenox Avenue on Friday, she started kicking, biting, scratching, and spitting at responding officers.

Court documents show that the thief had bitten one female officer on the shoulder “causing pain”. The two arresting officers were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital where their injuries were treated.

Finally, McKelley is required to post bail in order to be released despite the high likelihood of another offense. Bond was set at $25,000 with bail at $5,000.
