The bill allows for the attorney general to peruse civil action against any county that does not comply with federal immigration law.

This bill comes amid the Biden Administrations leniency at the border, and lack of transparency.

Critics have claimed that the law will create distrust in communities of color, while supporters of the bill assert that the legislation is necessary to prevent complications that arise from sanctuary cities in other states.

Florida’s governor, Ron DeSantis signed legislation outlawing sanctuary cities in 2019 during the Trump administration.
