LeBron James has been placed on indefinite leave from the NBA after “registering a positive or inconclusive test for Covid-19”.
Due to the NBA’s health and Safety Protocols, even players who receive inconclusive tests are exempted from games. As of right now James is the most high profile NBA athlete to fall victim to the protocols.
The Wall Street Journal reported, His teammate Anthony Davis said that James was asymptomatic and that “Covid’s a scary thing” in comments that suggested he’d tested positive, which TMZ reported earlier on Tuesday. NBA teams have left public disclosure of Covid test results to players, and the Lakers have not elaborated on the details of James’s situation.
James would be yet another individual to catch a case if COVID-19 while also being fully vaccinated at the time.
Vaccinated NBA players aren’t benched for having come in contact with the COVID-19 virus, but rather only if their tests come back positive or inconclusive.
Unvaccinated players however are held to a much more strenuous set of rules. If an unvaxxed player comes into contact with a person who may have the virus, the player is sidelined.
