In an interview with Vogue released Tuesday, actress Jennifer Lawrence claimed she has “recurring nightmares” about Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
Lawrence said she has been in an “emotional” state since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June.
She also described her healing process while dealing with political division in her family and discussing the “recurring nightmares” she’s had about Carlson with her therapist.
“The 2016 election had torn open a rift in her family,” the interview read.
“Repairing it was an ongoing process. Particularly since having a baby, she had been trying to heal. She even discussed with her therapist the recurring nightmares she has about Tucker Carlson,” the piece continued.
“‘I just worked so hard in the last five years to forgive my dad and my family and try to understand: It’s different. The information they are getting is different. Their life is different,'” Lawrence said.
The actress said she “tried to get over it” but “really can’t.”
“I’m sorry I’m just unleashing, but I can’t fuck with people who aren’t political anymore. You live in the United States of America. You have to be political. It’s too dire. Politics are killing people,” she added.
Lawrence said she “found it incredibly upsetting” that the country elected Donald Trump in 2016, noting that Americans voted for “a dangerous, dangerous jar of mayonnaise” instead of a woman.
“And now, thanks to Supreme Court justices appointed by that dangerous jar of mayonnaise, the unthinkable had happened,” she added.
“I don’t want to disparage my family, but I know that a lot of people are in a similar position with their families. How could you raise a daughter from birth and believe that she doesn’t deserve equality? How?” she told Vogue.
Lawrence also shared that she intended to have an abortion after finding out she was pregnant in her 20s, but suffered a miscarriage.
After her recent pregnancy, Lawrence said she wondered “What if I was forced to do this?”
In response to Lawrence’s comments, Carlson told his viewers “When you decide to work in television, you lose control of a lot of things.”
“Foremost, the way other people perceive you. So can it really be your fault, are you really responsible, if major Hollywood starlets dream about you?” he said, pulling out a pair of glasses. “Maybe it’s the sexy glasses.”
Carlson’s colleague, Trace Gallagher, said “Jennifer Lawrence sees you in her head at night, the nightmares when she sleeps. She is likely not watching you now, but her parents are probably watching you, because they are fans.”
In 2017, Carlson joked that Lawrence had “Trump Derangement Syndrome” after she said the terrible hurricane season was possibly “Mother Nature’s wrath” at the election of Trump.
“So she has nightmares about us, nightmares,” he concluded. “We are flattered. Can’t help it if they dream about you.”
