At least two people are dead after a plane crashed near a high-school in San Diego County on Monday.
Fox News reported, A small plane crashed in a residential neighborhood of San Diego County Monday afternoon, damaging some homes, authorities said. In a news conference after the crash, a fireman confirmed that at least two people died in the crash.
In addition two the two tragically killed, two more were hospitalized as a result of serious burns.
The twin engine Cessna C340 crashed only three blocks from Santana High-school in San Diego. The school confirmed in a tweet that students were in a “secure campus” and were later dismissed.
It doesn’t appear that any students were injured as a result of the incident.
One of the deceased was UPS driver, likely on the job at the time of the incident, according to the organization.
“We are heartbroken by the loss of our employee, and extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends,” UPS said in a statement to Fox.
The Red Cross has begun in assisting citizens in their evacuation effort as several homes burned.
According to the San Diego Sheriffs office, an investigation into the crash has been opened. Jeremy Street between 2nd Street and Mast Blvd and North Magnolia Avenue between 2nd Street and Mast Blvd are currently closed off to the public as a result.
