Mike Solan, President of the Seattle Police Officer’s Guild, revealed in an interview on The Ari Hoffman Show that the Seattle Police department is set to lose close to a third of its force.
Solan estimated the department would lose between 288-300 officers. “At the end of this month…we will be close to 300 officers (leaving), that’s a third of the agency,” he said.
Solan said that before the George Floyd incident, the department was praised by the city government.
Afterward, the Seattle City Council defunded the police by millions last August to local activist groups which were affiliated with the creation of the autonomous zone, CHAZ, and race riots.
He described the officers that are leaving as, “great human beings that do the job. They just want to serve.”
“It’s up to our community to recover this city and take it away from the activist crowd, that vocal small crowd that dictates the public safety discourse in this city. It’s up to the community to get Seattle back to a moderate community,” he later said.
