Representative Cori Bush’s vehicle was struck by gunfire this weekend in her home district of St. Louis.
The Missouri Democrat is a leader in the “defund the police” movement. Ironically it would appear that this situation was caused by a lack of policing.
Despite being an advocate for defunding the police, Missouri’s first black congresswoman spends thousands of dollars on her own private security. This seems to create a sentiment that protection should only be provided to those who can afford it.
Nobody was harmed in the shooting as the vehicle was unoccupied. “I’m touched by everyone who has reached out. Thankfully no one was harmed. But any act of gun violence shakes your soul. That’s why our movement is working to invest in our communities, eradicate the root causes of gun violence, and keep everyone safe.” Bush said in a tweet.
At this time it is not believed that the congresswoman was being targeted by the offending crook(s). Investigators reportedly found evidence that the door handles of other parked vehicles had been tampered with.
