Trump Calls For Release Of Docs After FBI Raid

On Thursday night, Former President Donald Trump called for the release of documents related to the FBI raid of his Mar-a-Lago home.

In a statement posted to his social media app Truth Social, Trump said he encouraged the “immediate release” of the documents and accused the FBI of “political weaponization of law enforcement.”

“Not only will I not oppose the release of documents related to the un-American, unwarranted, and unnecessary raid and break-in of my home in Palm Beach, Florida, Mar-a-Lago,” he said.

“I am going a step further by ENCOURAGING the immediate release of those documents, even though they have been drawn up by radical left Democrats and possible future political opponents, who have a strong and powerful vested interest in attacking me, much as they have done for the last 6 years,” the statement continued.

The former president also mentioned his poll numbers, saying they “are the strongest they have ever been.”

“This unprecedented political weaponization of law enforcement is inappropriate and highly unethical,” he added.

Trump continued to say the country is being “brought to a new low,” noting issues with the border, crime, energy, and elections.

“Release the documents now!” the statement concluded.

Trump’s statement comes after Attorney General Merrick Garland said during a press conference that he “personally approved” the search warrant request.

Federal agents searched Trump’s residence as part of an investigation into whether the former president unlawfully kept records that were supposed to go to the National Archives.

On Thursday, the Washington Post reported that one category of documents the FBI was searching for had to do with nuclear weapons.

It was unclear if the documents were related to U.S. weapons or those belonging to another country, and if the FBI found any of them.

Trump took to Truth Social to call the nuclear weapons rumor a “hoax.”

“Nuclear weapons issue is a Hoax, just like Russia, Russia, Russia was a Hoax, two Impeachments were a Hoax, the Mueller investigation was a Hoax, and much more,” the former president posted.

Trump also noted that his own lawyers were not allowed inside during the raid and suggested they could have planted something. “Planting information anyone? Reminds me of a Christofer [sic] Steele Dossier!”
