Actor and women’s activist Rose McGowan has come out in support of Larry Elder’s gubernatorial campaign in California.
McGowan was a leading figure in the “Me Too” movement. It turns out, she had a personal reason to oppose current California Governor Gavin Newsom.
The LA Times reported, She claimed that Newsom’s wife allegedly tried to bribe her to “suppress” McGowan’s allegations against convicted movie mogul Harvey Weinstein in 2017.
The “Charmed” star said she left the Democratic Party “because everyone who has harassed, stalked and stolen from” her during her Hollywood career has been a Democrat. And although she said she doesn’t agree with Elder on every issue, she thinks “he is the better candidate” and “the better man.”
Siebel Newsom, the Governor’s wife has denied the actor’s claims outright and in full. Newsom said that this just shows “how low” these campaigns go.
McGowan accuses the Governor’s wife of calling her phone, and asking her to work with David Boies, Weinstein’s attorney.
In the short call Siebel Newsom allegedly asked McGowan “What will it take? What can Boies Schiller do to make you happy?”
Rose also released alleged email screenshots from Siebel Newsom that corroborate her story, and prove that the phone call happened.
If she is telling the truth, this would prove a massive political cover up of sexual assault, and implicate the California Governor’s wife.
