MSNBC Guest Says Trump Supporters Are ‘Evil’

A talk show host and former CNN contributor appeared on MSNBC Saturday, claiming he and like-minded people were “at war” with “evil” Trump supporters.

Roland Martin joined “Cross Connection” host Tiffany Cross to discuss President Biden’s “MAGA Republican” speech from Thursday.

After playing a clip of the speech, Cross called out “mainstream Republicans,” not just “MAGA Republicans.”

“I think that’s such a crucial point: [Trump’s] followers – Republican – mainstream, establishment Republicans are echoing these calls for violence – all but threatening it,” she said.

When asked what his take was on the speech, Martin said “This means war. That is where we are.”

“We are at war with these people. These folks are evil. They have allowed evil into their house with Donald Trump. He has now dominated the party,” he continued.

“This evil is spreading. And when you are in a war footing, you have to respond accordingly. It’s about time President Joe Biden decided to get tough,” he added.

Martin also pointed out the red lighting in his room, saying “I have my red LED lighting since the Republicans are so, oh my god, upset because President Joe Biden, they claim he looked like he was in Russia.”

“It’s about time his advisers stop being weak and stop being impotent and not fighting back,” he said of Biden.

Continuing his rant about the GOP, Martin claimed “What these people want to do to this country is destroy democracy, they want to rig elections.”

He encouraged Democrats to “stand strong,” adding “You don’t walk comments back, you don’t wilt under the pressure.”

“Republicans and conservatives, they are weak,” Martin said before mocking them.

Later in his remarks, Martin said “this is about the future of our children.”

“I’ve got 13 nieces and nephews, and I’ll be damned if I’m gonna leave a country for them run by these crazy, deranged folks who want to impart evil in every facet of our society,” he added.

In response to media coverage of the clip, Martin tweeted “Sure did! And I’m glad you #MAGA people are mad and upset. We are gonna to beat you at the ballot box over and over and over.”

Dozens of Twitter users have argued that comments like the ones Martin made are what is really pushing the country toward “civil war.”
