In a press release, police say the man was driving a a Jeep Patriot when he plowed through the crowd. He then sped off and was chased down by police and arrested.

Three of the people involved had minor injuries and did not need medical attention and the fourth was treated in the hospital.

Police say “A 42-year-old male from Headingly, Manitoba, faces charges of: Assault with Weapon x 4, Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Cause Bodily Harm x 2, Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance, Fail to Stop After Accident Knowing That Reckless x 2, Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident x 2”.

The video has been spread around the internet, showing peaceful protesters gathered before being struck by the Jeep. Some chased after the car as it fled the scene.

The Freedom Convoy, which began Jan. 23, has amassed hundreds of thousands of protesters and arrived in Canada’s capital, Ottawa, on Jan. 29.

Facing below-freezing temperatures, the demonstrators plan to stay put until the government removes COVID vaccine mandates.

The convoy also faced issues with GoFundMe, which has refused to distribute money from those who donated to the cause.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis tweeted, “It is a fraud for @GoFundMe to commandeer $9M in donations sent to support truckers and give it to causes of their own choosing”.
