Many were not happy with Kyle Rittenhouse after he tweeted about saving his life with a weapon Thursday.
“I am alive today because I was able to protect myself,” Rittenhouse tweeted in reference to the Kenosha riot where he shot three people that attacked him in 2020.
He was immediately met with hate and insults after his tweet went viral.
“You’re alive today because you’re a white man,” tweeted Shannon Watts, founder of the organization Moms Demanding Action.
Journalist Tariq Nasheed replied “You misspelled ‘because of systematic white supremacy’,” a common insult used against Rittenhouse.
Others accused him of surviving because of “white privilege” and called him a murderer.
“You’re a murdering little coward who went looking for trouble,” said Tv and film producer Steven DeKnight.
Comedian Christopher Titus replied “You took a gun to a volatile situation. It was a shooting that YOU caused”.
“And you cried like a bitch. Your trial is a dark day for America. You little twat,” he continued.
May Malik, candidate for NYS Assembly in District 73, tweeted that Rittenhouse was made into a hero.
She claimed he “1) was motivated by right-wing Facebook groups calling for ‘patriots willing to take up arms’ 2) armed himself with an AR-15 style rifle & drove 20 miles from his home to Kenosha 3) thought he could do a better job than the National Guard”.
Shortly before the viral tweet, Rittenhouse also said “‘The right of people to keep and bear arms shall NOT be infringed,’ Joe”.
He recently announced that he is continuing his defamation cases, saying “Johnny Depp trial is just fueling me, you can fight back against the lies in the media, and you should!”
