Donald Trump Hints At 2024 Run In CPAC Speech

Former President Donald Trump has hinted again that he is preparing to run for president and suggested an announcement may come soon.

While at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Texas, Trump was asked by Fox News Digital when Republicans could expect a formal announcement.

“It’s certainly not a very long period, the time is coming,” he said. “I think people are going to be very happy, our country has never been in a position like this, we’ve lost everything.”

In his speech, Trump said the country’s “prestige” has been damaged by President Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan and mentioned domestic and foreign policy crises.

“Our country has never been at a worse point,” said Trump. “They gave away $85 billion worth of equipment, dead soldiers, you still have Americans over there probably as hostages, eventually will be hostages, there has never been a time like this.”

“We’ll be making an announcement in the not too distant future,” he added.

Earlier in the day, CPAC announced that its straw poll showed Trump as the favorite for the 2024 GOP nomination.

Trump had nearly 70% of the ballots cast at the conference, while Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis came in second at 23.7%.

DeSantis has repeatedly rejected the idea of running for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, but many still see him as a potential contender.

Later in his speech, Trump said “America’s comeback begins this November, and it will continue onward with the unstoppable momentum that we are going to develop in November 2024.”
