What might happen if a high school were to allow a planned parenthood facility to operate on their grounds? This may be a reality in one California school district.
Fox News reported The seven-member school board of the Norwalk-LaMirada Unified School District [California] will vote during a meeting Monday evening on allowing Planned Parenthood to open and operate a clinic for reproductive health care at John Glenn High School in Norwalk.
Apparently, gender-affirming hormone therapy and abortions are not listed as included services for the on-campus facility, though clinic employees are able to refer the high school students to other clinics off campus.
The clinic will also be able to administer contraceptives like IUDs, a long-lasting reversible form of contraceptive that requires a small surgery in order to obtain.
The proposal says it “will encourage students to involve their families in decision making” – ultimately the child will be able to consent to activities in the facility, or other facilities without parental consent.
If it is approved, the contract with planned parenthood will last a total of 5 years before a second review.
